*Majority Leader Calls for Abolition of Special Prosecutor's Office* The Majority Leader of Ghana's Parliament, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, has called for the abolition of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, citing its failure to deliver on its mandate to fight corruption. Speaking in Parliament, Hon. Ayariga argued that the office's inability to prosecute major corruption cases is a clear indication that it is not effective, and that the institution of the Attorney General, if adequately resourced and protected, can deliver the same results. He questioned why the office is being resourced more than the Attorney General, and suggested that abolishing the office would not let off the hook those who have violated the law. Hon.
