Minority Sounds Alarm Over GoldBod, Alleges $214m Loss in Nine Months. The Minority in Ghana's Parliament has raised concerns over the Gold-for-Reserves scheme, alleging a $214 million loss in just nine months of 2025. They claim the scheme, meant to boost Ghana's reserves, has been "twisted into a pipeline for draining national wealth" and is being mismanaged. The member of parliament for Ofoase Ayireabi, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah speaking for the minority questions the role of Alhaji Bawa of Bawa-Rock Ltd, the sole aggregator licensed by GoldBod to buy artisanal gold. He explained, GoldBod pays miners market prices but sells dollars to Bank of Ghana at a weaker interbank rate, passing losses to the state. Illegal mining continues, with GoldBod allegedly unable to prove its gold isn't sourced from destructive operations. They Demanded a Parliamentary investigation into GoldBod and Bawa-Rock dealings.Full disclosure of contracts, licenses, and fee structures. Also, account
