GOVERNMENT'S COCOA PRICE REDUCTION PLAN MET WITH RESISTANCE FROM MINORITY. Ranking Member on Parliament’s Food and Agriculture Committee and MP for Offinso South, Dr. Isaac Yaw Opoku, has expressed strong opposition to report that the government is planning to reduce the prices of cocoa again which is not acceptable. According to him, government has to kill everyone including farmers before that move to reduce the prices of cocoa will happen today or tomorrow. Dr. Opoku further accused the government of failing to fulfil its campaign promises to cocoa farmers. He said the government only managed to pay a bag of cocoa at cost of Ghc3,625 instead of Ghc6,000 as promised during 2024 campaigns season. He charged all cocoa farmers to reject the move by the government to further reduce cocoa prices from Ghc3,625 instead of Ghc6,000 as promised.
