KWAKU KWARTENG ELEVATED TO CHAIR ECONOMY COMMITTEE - AFENYO MARKIN CLARIFIES
Majority leader in parliament Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin has clarified that the chairman for the finance committee Mr Kwaku Kwarteng has been elevated to chair the Economy committee in parliament.
Explaining their recent action to the media,Mr Afenyo Markin said Mr Kwarteng will be the majority spokesperson on the economy.
He added that Mr Kwarteng will take the fight to the NDC to beat them when it comes to issues of the economy ahead of this year's election.
The Obuasi law maker is seen as a leading member of the party when it comes to finance and economy.
Mr Kwaku Kwarteng has served the NPP party and played key roles through former President John Agyekum Kuffour's administration and this current government.
In the new standing orders of Ghana's Parliament, new committees have been added to the existing ones, while committee membership has been reduced to eight to enable them to work effectively. Some of the new committees include the Committee on Economy and Development to oversee the work of NDPC. The Finance Committee still stands.
