INTERIOR MINISTER REFUTES CLAIMS OF ONGOING RECRUITMENT
Interior Minister,Mr Henry Quartey, has refute claims of some eleven thousand secret recruitment into the various security services.
Addressing the parliamentary press corps on Tuesday, 16th July 2024, he noted that the figures given are not accurate.
He raised concerns about attributing eligible citizens who have met the right criteria into the security agencies being labelled as tags and party people.
"We are likely to plan the country into insecurity. we have to be careful with the direction we are going. "
The majority member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central again denied all allegations that the Ghana Police Service was engaging in backlog recruitment.
Mr Quartey clarified that the Ghana Police Service issued a letter to persons who had gone through eligibility criteria and processes of recruiting.
He explained that assuming that a hundred thousand people as a result of advertisement has applied and filled the form online, they do not state their accurate ages and they impersonate by using people certificates the paper comes out as qualified.
He added that there are more than a hundred thousand people with such paper that were shortlisted.
He added that those qualified people who went through medicals were only cleared by the police.
He emphatically stated that there has not been any recruitment.
He placed on record that the ministries of interior do not embark on recruitment processes but rather the security and intelligence agencies, and they have a criteria for people to met.
He warned the general public to desist from anybody people hiding under pretence to get them into the security services.
However, the Ghana Police Service has issued a communique to refute comments attributed to the Hon. Member of Parliament for Wa West, Mr Peter Lanchene Toobu, to the effect that there is an ongoing recruitment exercise at the National Police Training School without any public announcements of the exercise.
The police stated that they have not commenced any exercise of such nature.
