VETTING OF SUPREME COURT JUDGES:

I WILL ENCOURAGE NON-CUSTODIAL SENTENCE - JUSTICE ROSETTE 

Supreme court Justice nominee Sophia Rosetta Oduokuwa Bernasko Essah is being screened by the appointment committee today.

The appointment committee of Parliament on 13th August 2024 met to vet the supreme Court Justice Nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo -Addo in accordance with the Constitution .

During the vetting process, the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency Francis Xavier Sosu, who stands a friend to the committee, asked the nominee her position for advocacy for non-custodial crimes.

The nominee indicated among other things that Non-custodial sentences should be legislated on because it will decongest the prisons.

She said that crimes are intended to reform, and you don't need to be incarcerated in order to reform. Her ladyship Rosetta added that non- custodial sentences are now very useful, and she will encourage them.
