Ahanta Language (Ayinda) Orthography Approved for Teaching in Schools. The Ahanta Language (Ayinda) orthography has been officially approved as part of the Ghanaian languages to be taught in schools. Hon. Mavis Kuukua Bissue, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, made the announcement, citing the importance of preserving the Ahanta people's cultural identity and heritage. Ayinda is a Central Tano language within the Kwa branch of the Niger Congo language family, spoken by the Ahanta people of the Western Region. Historically, The Ahanta people have a rich history, including the Ahanta-Dutch War of 1838, led by Otumfuo Badu Bonsu II. According to the member of parliament, the approval opens pathways for academic development, teacher training, and employment creation. The Ahindamaale Education Trust Fund has been established to support education and the study of Ayinda. Hon. Minority Demands Withdrawal of 'LGBTQ' Teaching Manual. Minority in parliament has called for the withdrawal of a Senior High School teaching manual, alleging it includes redefined concepts of sex, sexuality, and gender identity that contradict Ghana's cultural and moral values. Addressing the press, The former PRO for the Education service, Mr Vincent Ekow Assafuah stated that, the manual, developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), has sparked outrage, with critics accusing the government of introducing LGBTQ concepts through state-approved materials. Transport Minister Outlines Strategy to Strengthen Commuter Bus Services Across the Country. The Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has provided an update on ongoing efforts to improve public transportation and ensure efficient movement for commuters across Ghana. Speaking to the media, Hon. Nikpe revealed that he has re-engaged with the Managing Directors of Metro Mass Transit Limited, STC, and Intercity Coaches to review and strengthen their operations. According to the Minister, several buses have already been reintroduced on key routes, and the Ministry is closely monitoring daily operations to determine whether additional vehicles are required to meet commuter demand. “We are assessing daily movements and, based on the results, we will add more buses where necessary to ensure smooth and reliable service for our passengers,” Hon. VALCO Workers Union Sounds Alarm Over Possible Stealth Sale. The leadership of workers at Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) has expressed concern over GIADEC's announcement to secure strategic investors for VALCO's modernization, alleging it's a rushed privatization without stakeholder consultation. In a press statement signed by the union chairman Mr Samuel W. Agyeman, the union demands transparency, citing secrecy and lack of valuation as red flags. According to them, they suspect a disguised sale, possibly linked to Ibrahim Mahama, and call on the President and SIGA to intervene.
