MINORITY PROMISES TO SUPPORT SOLUTIONS TO BRING FINALITY TO BAWKU CRISIS.

The minority has promised to support solutions that will bring finality to the Bawku crisis.

Speaking to the media, the Deputy Ranking on the defence and interior committee, Mr Kofi Amankwa-Manu commented  on some reportage circulating on the social media which indicates that, the inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh-Yohunu promising the youth of Bawku to lay down their tools in exchange of recruitment into the police service.

Mr Amankwa-Manu recommended that IGP's visit to the area says it is in the right direction but condemned his alleged promise to the youth of Bawku.

"If what am reading from social media is true, then  the IGP's visit to Bawku is rather more harm than good"

He said it is important for all stakeholders to lay down their tools in the process to  de-escalate the Bawku situation.

"But for me, it will be absurd to recruit people into the security services based on the fact that they have laid down their tools. What it means that, if you do not meet the criteria to be recruited into the security service you would be recruited base on you have laid down your tools, that is not the way to go." He lamented.

He added that Bawku is a border town and if care is not taken, these armed groupings will use Bawku as a weak point and the entire country will be on it needs.
