The 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will  commerce tomorrow Wednesday, 11th June 2025 and about 6,328 candidates across Ghana is expected to write the exams. 

 

As there is a mix of emotions - excitement, nervousness, and anticipation Among candidates,  a message from the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, seeks to bring a sense of calm and reassurance.

 

The Speaker's words, infused with wisdom and faith, reminded the candidates that their hard work and dedication would be the foundation for their success. "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God," the Speaker quoted from Isaiah 41:10, urging the candidates to trust in their abilities and the guidance of a higher power.

 

With a deep understanding of the significance of this moment, the Speaker acknowledged the candidates' relentless pursuit of academic excellence. He encouraged them to push through challenges, believing in themselves, their teachers, and the divine guidance that would see them through.

GHANA'S MINORITY CAUCUS RAISES CONCERNS OVER US DEPORTEES AGREEMENT. Ghana's Minority Caucus in Parliament has expressed strong concerns over the country's agreement with the United States to accept third-country nationals deported from the US. The Minority Caucus reiterates its call for the government to suspend the agreement's implementation until parliamentary ratification is obtained. Speaking to the media, the Ranking member for the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor highlighted that the agreement breaches Article 75 of Ghana's Constitution. He urged the government to provide clarity on the processes, safeguards, and implications of receiving these deportees. The District Chief Executive for Atiwa East Ernest Owusu Ntim giving his vision for development for the district have highlighted the challenges faced by government workers due to the high cost of living particularly in Atiwa East and some of the mining communities. Addressing the media, he stated that, looking at the cost of rent in these areas, workers use more than 30% of their salaries on rent. He explained that, this has led the departures of nurses, doctors, teachers and other government workers. Mr Owusu Ntim emphasized that, the assembly will try to have an untouchable development levy account which will generate money from the mining companies in the district. The funds collected will therefore be used to build affordable apartments and accommodations for these government workers.

FIGHT AGAINST GALAMSEY : Local-Based Approach the Best Solution. The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim, emphasizes that a local-based approach is the best way to combat illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana.
