Asuogyaman MP Unveils Packed Line-Up for 2025 Akosombo Festival and Street Carnival

The Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has announced exciting updates on the upcoming Akosombo Festival during a statement on the floor of Parliament.

He revealed that the Miss Asuogyaman Pageant is scheduled for 7th December 2025, aimed at promoting cultural pride, confidence, and creativity among young women in the district. In addition, young men and daring women will have the opportunity to demonstrate strength and athletic prowess in the Asuogyaman Strongest Competition, a sporting event designed to encourage fitness, discipline, and healthy rivalry.

Hon. Nyarko Ampem also disclosed a special tourism package featuring a unique railway tour from the Tema Harbour Station to the Adomi Station. The package runs from 4th to 7th December, and includes guided visits to the Akosombo Dam, the Akwamu Museum, and the iconic Adomi Bridge.

The main festival will offer a vibrant lineup of activities such as a street float, water sports, regatta, cultural durbar, candlelight procession, fireworks display, trade exhibitions, live band performances, and several other attractions.

Crowning these activities is the flagship event of the season—the Akosombo Street Carnival, scheduled for 19th to 21st December 2025. The carnival is expected to transform Akosombo into a corridor of music, colour, culture, and comedy. Cultural exhibitions, dance groups, street fashion displays, and a variety of food stands serving both local and contemporary dishes will highlight Ghana’s rich creativity. Workshops, mentorship sessions, talent showcases, and career guidance activities will also be held to connect young creatives with industry leaders while supporting local businesses.

The Akosombo Street Carnival complements the broader lineup of December events, positioning Akosombo as a premier “Dirty December by the Lake” destination.
