Minority Demands Withdrawal of 'LGBTQ' Teaching Manual. Minority in parliament has called for the withdrawal of a Senior High School teaching manual, alleging it includes redefined concepts of sex, sexuality, and gender identity that contradict Ghana's cultural and moral values. Minority Demands Withdrawal of 'LGBTQ' Teaching Manual.

 

 

 

Minority in parliament has called for the withdrawal of a Senior High School teaching manual, alleging it includes redefined concepts of sex, sexuality, and gender identity that contradict Ghana's cultural and moral values. 

 

 

Addressing the press, The former PRO for the Education service, Mr Vincent Ekow Assafuah stated that, the manual, developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), has sparked outrage, with critics accusing the government of introducing LGBTQ concepts through state-approved materials. 

 

He said this situation goes beyond pedagogy. It touches on parental authority, national values and parliament's constitutional duty to exercise oversight over public institutions but yet, the government is silence. 

 

According to him, several bills have been laid, considered and passed, many under a certificate of urgency in accordance with the standing orders yet, the executive and majority has not been accorded similar treatment to the human sexual rights and family values bill. 

 

 

They called for immediate withdrawals of all teaching and learning materials containing LGBTQ related content from all schools. 

 

A dismissal of the Director General and board Chairperson of NaCCA for their failure of oversight and beach of public trust.

 

He also called for a full parliamentary inquiry by the appropriate committee for the house into the development, approval, funding and circulation of these materials.

 

He challenged the NDC government to state clearly on the floor of parliament their stance  to the Ghanaian people. 

 

He called on the broader Christian community, religious body, civil society organizations among others to let their voices be heard.
