LGBTQ BILL: SPONSORS DEMAND SPEEDY PASSAGE OF THE BILL. Some sponsors of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values often called "anti-LGBTQ bills, Mr Sam Nartey George and Mr Ntim Fordjour are calling for speedy passage of the bill. According to them, the core clauses haven't changed much and it doesn't need fresh national dialogue because the stakeholders inputs from the office of the Chief Imam, Christian Council, Catholic Bishop Conference, National House of Chiefs and the Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values were already captured during the 2021-2024 process. He added that, the issues raised now in 2026 are the same as those addressed then. They appealed to leadership to treat it as such given that, it already survived legal challenges in the Supreme Court and extensive committee scrutiny in the 8th parliament. Mr Ntim Fordjour added that, the Constitutional, legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee now has to file a report, after that, the bill

Mr Sam Nartey George and Mr Ntim Fordjour are calling for speedy passage of the bill. 

 

According to them, the core clauses haven't changed much and it doesn't need fresh national dialogue because the stakeholders inputs from the office of the Chief Imam, Christian Council, Catholic Bishop Conference, National House of Chiefs and the Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values were  already captured during the 2021-2024 process.

Mr Ntim Fordjour added that, the Constitutional, legal and Parliamentary Affairs committee now has to file a report, after that, the bill proceeds to second reading, consideration stage and third reading in the house before the president can assent to it after presented to him.
