Condemnation of Xenophobic Attacks on Foreign Africans in South Africa:
The Trans Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign unequivocally and strongly condemns the recent xenophobic attacks targeting fellow Africans in South Africa.
These acts of violence, looting, and intimidation against our brothers and sisters from across the continent are not only criminal but represent a profound betrayal of the spirit of Pan-African unity and solidarity that our forebears fought so hard to establish.
Africa is one family.
From the shores of Ghana to the highlands of Ethiopia, from the deserts of the Sahel to the waters of the Limpopo, we share a common heritage, common struggles, and a common destiny.
The targeting of African migrants, many of whom are hardworking entrepreneurs, traders, professionals, and contributors to the South African economy, under the guise of frustration with local challenges is unacceptable and must be brought to an immediate end.
As the leader of the Trans Africa Tourism and Unity Campaign, I call on the Government of South Africa, law enforcement agencies, traditional leaders, and civil society to take decisive and urgent action to:
(I) Protect the lives, property, and dignity of all African nationals residing in South Africa.
(II) Prosecute perpetrators of these attacks to the fullest extent of the law.
(III) Address the root causes of these tensions through dialogue, education, and inclusive economic policies that benefit all residents while upholding the rights of migrants.
(IV) Promote genuine Pan-African cooperation rather than division.
These attacks severely damage the image of South Africa and undermine the very foundation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the vision of a united, prosperous Africa.
Tourism and intra-African trade cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear and hostility. No true African development agenda can succeed when we turn against one another.
We stand in full solidarity with all victims of these attacks and with the broader African migrant community in South Africa. We urge all Africans across the continent to remain peaceful but firm in demanding justice, protection, and mutual respect.
Let us reject xenophobia in all its forms and recommit ourselves to the ideals of Ubuntu and collective progress.
Africa must unite, not just in words, but in deeds. The blood, sweat, and aspirations of our people demand nothing less.
