Minister of Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has thanked Parliament for adopting the Bilateral Air Services Agreements, saying the move makes Ghana compliant with the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO.

“Mr. Speaker, I want to take this opportunity to thank your good self and colleagues for going through this agreement and adopting them. This makes us compliant with the International Civil Aviation Authority,” he said.

Hon. Nikpe stated that the government’s goal is to create the right environment in the aviation sector by positioning Ghana as the hub for West Africa.

“By so doing, we need to look at our legal framework that would direct us as to how issues would be addressed,” he noted.

The Minister added: “I’m so grateful and happy that today, the Parliament of Ghana has gone through and approved all these agreements.”

Parliament earlier adopted the Report of the Committee on Roads and Transport on the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between the Government of Ghana, represented by the Ministry of Transport, and the Government of the Republic of Benin, relating to the establishment of air services.
