Hon. Sulemana Adams Commends Government’s Fiscal Discipline, Backs 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review Hon. Sulemana Adams has praised the government’s fiscal management, arguing that the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review demonstrates prudent planning and a commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s economic future. Contributing to the debate in Parliament, the MP said the government is rebuilding the country’s sinking fund to ensure Ghana is well-prepared to meet its future debt obligations rather than waiting until repayments become due. According to him, GH¢13.6 billion had already been accumulated in the sinking fund as of July 2026, with government targeting GH¢30 billion by the end of the year to settle debts maturing in 2026. “This government looks ahead. We will not wait until we are declared bankrupt. We will not wait until we cannot pay our debt. We will not wait until Fitch, Moody’s and other rating agencies downgrade this economy,” he stated.
