Majority Leader Urges Ghanaians to Embrace Nkrumah's Vision at Launch of Nkrumah Fest 2026

The Majority Leader  has called on Ghanaians to revisit and embrace the enduring vision of Ghana's founding President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, describing his ideas as the blueprint for the country's development and Africa's progress.

Speaking at the official launch of Nkrumah Fest 2026 at the , Mr. Ayariga said Dr. Nkrumah's legacy was built on three fundamental pillars: freedom, rapid industrialization, and African unity.

According to him, Dr. Nkrumah championed the message of freedom and the responsibility that comes with it, while advocating rapid industrialization as the means to improve the living conditions of Africans. He added that Nkrumah also believed strongly in the unity of Ghanaians and, ultimately, the political and economic unity of the African continent.

Mr. Ayariga stressed that these principles remain relevant today and continue to offer solutions to the challenges facing Ghana and Africa.

He lamented that although Dr. Nkrumah had outlined a clear development path decades ago, successive generations had failed to fully implement his vision.

Reflecting on his own reading of Dr. Nkrumah's Seven-Year Development Plan, the Majority Leader said he was deeply impressed by the document and its foresight.

"I took time to read the Seven-Year Development Plan, and once I started, I couldn't put it down. Nkrumah had already defined the path for us. We did not need to keep searching for development models because he had provided the roadmap," he stated.

Mr. Ayariga urged political leaders and citizens alike to draw inspiration from Dr. Nkrumah's ideas, emphasizing that the founding President's vision for industrialization, self-reliance, and African unity remains as important today as it was more than six decades ago.
