Minority Rebut Hon. Samuel Nartey George Over DSTV Impasse. The Minority members on Parliament's Communication and Information Committee have responded to comments made by Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, regarding the ongoing DSTV impasse. In a press statement signed by Hon. Matthew Nyindam, Ranking Member of the Committee on Information and Communication on 1st October 2025, the Minority accused Hon. George of arrogance, disrespect, and pomposity. Mr Nyindam noted that Hon. George's stance on the DSTV impasse appears to have shifted, from demanding a 30% price reduction to accepting upgrades in packages. Demanding for Clarification, the Minority has asked Hon. Sam George to explain the reason behind this change in stance and accounts for the revenue collected from the GH¢10,000 levy imposed on DSTV since its inception. Despite Hon. Minority Rebut Hon. Samuel Nartey George Over DSTV Impasse. The Minority members on Parliament's Communication and Information Committee have responded to comments made by Hon. GOVT TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR PRISON FEEDING FROM GHC 1.80 TO GHC 5. The government of Ghana through the interior minister,Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed - Mubarak and the Finance Ministry has allocated 40million Ghana cedis for prison feeding. With a proposal to increase the daily feeding allowance from GHC 1.8 to GHC 5 Ghana cedis per inmate. Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of parliament on 30th September 2025, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed said the Ghana Prisons Service is working to improve the welfare of inmates and address congestion in prison. The prison service granted amnesty to over nine hundred (900) first time offenders reducing congestion from 36% to 33%. He added that, Agricultural initiatives by the ministry to cultivate land and produce food for inmates, reducing reliance on government funding. GHANA'S MINORITY CAUCUS RAISES CONCERNS OVER US DEPORTEES AGREEMENT. Ghana's Minority Caucus in Parliament has expressed strong concerns over the country's agreement with the United States to accept third-country nationals deported from the US. The Minority Caucus reiterates its call for the government to suspend the agreement's implementation until parliamentary ratification is obtained. Speaking to the media, the Ranking member for the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor highlighted that the agreement breaches Article 75 of Ghana's Constitution. He urged the government to provide clarity on the processes, safeguards, and implications of receiving these deportees. ATIWA EAST DCE SEEKS SOLUTIONS FOR HIGH COST OF LIVING FOR GOVT WORKERS. The District Chief Executive for Atiwa East Ernest Owusu Ntim giving his vision for development for the district have highlighted the challenges faced by government workers due to the high cost of living particularly in Atiwa East and some of the mining communities. Addressing the media, he stated that, looking at the cost of rent in these areas, workers use more than 30% of their salaries on rent. He explained that, this has led the departures of nurses, doctors, teachers and other government workers. Mr Owusu Ntim emphasized that, the assembly will try to have an untouchable development levy account which will generate money from the mining companies in the district. The funds collected will therefore be used to build affordable apartments and accommodations for these government workers.

According to the lawmaker and ranking member on the public accounts committee, he encountered the Dutch Komenda woman when he took a patient to Elmina Polyclinic for treatment. The woman narrated to him that her son, who was admitted and treated for two weeks, has been detained by management of the facility due to an unpaid medical bill of ghs 4,100.00.
