Economy Shows Strong Signs of Recovery - Finance Minister The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to present the much-anticipated 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament today. Addressing the House ahead of the presentation, Dr. Forson highlighted that the first half of 2025 reflects significant progress in Ghana’s economic recovery, crediting prudent fiscal management, sound monetary policies, effective structural reforms, and strategic investments. According to him, these measures have laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth and shared prosperity. “We have set a real GDP growth target of 4%, with non-oil real GDP expected to grow at 4.8%,” Dr. Forson noted. “The current disinflation trend has led many analysts to predict that Ghana may achieve single-digit inflation before the end of the year—surpassing the official target of 11.9%.” He also revealed that the primary balance on a commitment basis stands at a surplus of 1.5% of GDP. Governs Kwame Agbodza, has raised serious concerns about the high cost of cement in Ghana, calling on producers to reduce prices in line with recent economic gains. Speaking at a press conference, Hon. Agbodza stated that despite the relative stability of the Ghanaian cedi and a general reduction in prices of several imported goods, cement producers continue to maintain high prices. He noted that many of the inputs used in cement production are imported, yet unlike other sectors, the cement industry has not passed on the benefits of currency stability and reduced import costs to consumers. "The government and the Ghanaian people have worked hard to stabilize the economy, and many sectors are responding by reducing prices. Cement producers, however, are refusing to do the same," he said. He emphasized that the Ministry of Roads and Highways will recon

Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has raised concerns about delegation matters while speaking to Members of Parliament. Hon. Bagbin revealed that negotiations led to an agreement for him to be an observer. However, discussions evolved to suggest that Madam Millicent Amankwa Yeboah should be the observer.
