WORLD AIDS DAY: WE CAN BUILD A FUTURE WHERE AIDS WILL NOT BE A THREAT.
The president of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo in celebration of this year's AIDS day has stated that, Ghanaians can build a future where AIDS will be no longer a threat.
Presenting on behalf of the President, Mr Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu added that, ending AIDS is by creating a society where no one feels left behind.
He was troubled to hear about 78% of women and 72% of men in Ghana still stigmatize persons living with HIV.
He said it's alarming that two-thirds of the people living with HIV are women and that adolescent girls account for the majority of new infections among young people.
The MP for Suame further appealed to communities, religious leaders to continue to educate and advocate to bring change of minds and heart.
He explained that ending AIDS is more than policies. It should be a society where every person living with HIV has access to treatment and discrimination is a thing of the past.
Touching on this year's global theme for the celebration "take the right path" he urged all Ghanaians and health workers to take the step to test and encourage others to be tested to know their status.
