SUNYANI GETS NEW PARAMOUNT CHIEF
Kingmakers of the Sunyani Traditional Area has today 6th January, 2025 installed Mr Yaw Agyare as the new Paramount Chief to succeed Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II. His stool name is; Nana Boahen Korkor II. All rights leading to the installation of a new Chief according to the customs and traditions of the Sunyani Traditional Area were done at the Sunyani old palace at Area One.
Two weeks ago, a story broke out about the selection of the gentleman by Kingmakers of the Sunyani Traditional Council as the qualified candidate amongst the seven people who were presented by the family to be vetted for the position.
The search committee which was led by the Acting President of the Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Kwaku Sarbeng II unanimously selected Mr Yaw Agyare as the rightful candidate to succeed the late Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II.
Scores of people from the various communities of Sunyani as well as some market women who heard about the installation thronged Area One to catch a glimpse of the 46-year-old who has taken the mantle as the new paramount chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
The newly installed Nana Boahen Korkor II, an affable man who grew up in Sunyani has a lot of support from the masses, particularly, New Town, Area One, Area Two, Area Three, Area Four, Estate and Newtown Extension, which form the core communities of Sunyani. He is widely known for his affable nature, kindness and seriousness to issues of development and accountability.
His installation, has come as a breather and source of hope for the many worried people who have been asking questions about when Sunyani would get a new Paramount Chief.
Nana Boahen Korkor II, who resides in the United States of America graduated from Sunyani Polytechnic and later proceeded to the Catholic University of Ghana.
In his professional life in Ghana, he worked at the National Health Insurance Authority at Dormaa as the IT Manager for a period of thirteen (13) years.
He currently works with the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in the United States of America.
A trader namely Adwoa Mansa who came to witness the occasion stated that she is relieved after seeing Nana Boahen Korkor II installed as the new paramount chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
Some residents of Sunyani New Town and some other core communities of the Sunyani Traditional Area were seen jubilating over the news of Nana Boahen Korkor II installation with many of them gathering in small groups discussing it.
