*Tarkwa Nsuaem MCE Appeals for Inclusion in President’s "Big Push" Initiative Amidst Road Challenges* Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Mr. Ebenezer Cobbina, is calling on the central government to consider Tarkwa Nsuaem in the "big push" initiative by President John Dramani Mahama. Speaking to the media after answering questions before the local government and rural development in parliament, Mr. Cobbina highlighted that roads in Tarkwa are a major challenge. He noted efforts to reshape roads using drip machines and mentioned projects completed with MP Issah Salifu Taylor, including a six-unit classroom block and a community centre. Ongoing projects include two health facilities—a health centre and a CHIP compound.

*Minority Caucus Condemns Persecution, Calls for Protection of Dissenting Voices* The Minority Caucus has expressed grave concern over the arrest and remand of Mr. Kwame Baffoe, Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on charges of "offensive conduct conducive to a breach of the peace." The Caucus sees this as part of a broader pattern of suppressing dissent and harassing journalists, social commentators, and opposition figures through arbitrary arrests and detentions. In a statement signed by the Minority Second Deputy Whip, Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaib stated that, the Caucus believes that the government's actions are aimed at silencing voices of dissent and accountability. MINORITY LEADER PAYS FEES FOR VORSA STUDENT AT UNIVERSITY OF GHANA- LEGON. The minority leader, Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin has paid the fees for 33 students from the Volta Region who are members of the Volta Regional Students Association (VORSA),at University of Ghana, Legon, amounting to GHC 105,000. *ABOSSEY OKAI SPARE PARTS DEALERS ASSOCIATION TO ENFORCE GIPC ACT* The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association announces its commitment to upholding the law and protecting local enterprise from unlawful competition. As of Monday, September 8, 2025, the Association will embark on an exercise to ensure strict compliance with the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act, 2013 (Act 865), specifically Section 27(1). According to their press statement, the Act prohibits non-citizens or enterprises not wholly owned by Ghanaians from engaging in retail trading, hawking, or selling goods in stalls or markets. Despite the law, foreigners continue to dominate petty trading in commercial hubs like Abossey Okai, undermining local entrepreneurship and affecting the livelihoods of Association members.
