Minority MPs Demand Sam George's Resignation Over DStv Impasse. The Minority Caucus in Parliament has called for the resignation of Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mr Sam George, over his handling of the ongoing DStv impasse. Minority MPs Demand Sam George's Resignation Over DStv Impasse.

 

 

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has called for the resignation of Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mr Sam George, over his handling of the ongoing DStv impasse. 

 

 

According to the member of parliament for Abirem and also the Deputy Ranking on Information and communication committee Mr Charles Asuako Owiredu , Sam George's actions demonstrate "ineptitude, incompetence, and a penchant for deceit" in his negotiations with MultiChoice Ghana.

 

Background of the Impasse

The controversy began in August 2025 when Sam George demanded a 30% reduction in DStv subscription fees, citing significant price disparities between Ghana and other African countries. MultiChoice labelled the demand "untenable," warning of potential job losses and reduced service options. Despite the Minister's insistence on price reduction, the company offered promotional upgrades instead.

 

 

The Minority accuses Sam George of Inconsistent Stance.  Abandoning his initial demand for a 30% price reduction and instead accepting Multi choice's promotional offers.

 

He added that, Failing to grasp key issues during meetings and communicate actual negotiated outcomes to Ghanaians.

 

 Displaying arrogance and insults towards citizens and industry players during the process.

 

Mr Owiredu said  denying regulators like the NCA the opportunity to perform their work according to law.

 

Demands from the Minority are that, 

Unqualified Apology from Mr  Sam George. He  should apologize to Ghanaians for wasting the nation's time and resources.

 

The Minister should account for the GH¢10,000 daily fine imposed on MultiChoice.

 

Resignation or Dismissal by Mr Samuel Nartey George. He  should resign or be fired due to his perceived incompetence.
