Bagbin Announces Maiden Practice and Procedure Week for Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that Parliament will hold its maiden Practice and Procedure Week from Monday, 3rd to Saturday, 8th November 2025.

Addressing Members of Parliament, the Speaker explained that the Parliamentary Service, through the Legislative Management Services Department, is organizing the initiative as part of ongoing efforts to enhance institutional efficiency, professionalism, and procedural consistency in parliamentary work.

According to him, the programme aims to build the knowledge and skills of both Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff in legislative procedures, ethics, and best practices. It will also create an avenue for collective reflection and the exchange of ideas on emerging trends in legislative management.

Rt. Hon. Bagbin further noted that the initiative aligns with Parliament’s broader modernization agenda, particularly in areas such as digitisation and the integration of technology into legislative workflows. He stressed the need to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of parliamentary committees for improved oversight, as well as to promote civic engagement and transparency in parliamentary operations.

Throughout the week, there will be seminars, panel discussions, and interactive sessions involving current and former Members of Parliament, clerks, and retired procedural experts—all aimed at deepening procedural knowledge and improving operational efficiency.

The Speaker urged all Members to participate fully in the scheduled activities, emphasizing that the insights gained will help strengthen the institution and improve service delivery to the Ghanaian people. He added that he will officially open the event on Monday, 3rd November 2025, at the Rt. Hon. Justice D.F. Annan Auditorium, and encouraged MPs to inform colleagues and ensure active participation.
