*Galamsey Devastation: Hon Francis Sosu Sounds Alarm, Calls for Collective Action*

Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency,Hon Francis Xavier Sosu has raised alarm over the devastating impact of illegal mining, known as Galamsey, on Ghana's environment and citizens.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Lawyer Sosu emphasized that the fight against Galamsey is a matter of intergenerational equity, requiring responsible management of natural resources to ensure their sustainability for future generations.

Hon Sosu highlighted the alarming rate of water body destruction, citing the pollution of rivers and streams.

He noted the increasing number of deaths and accidents associated with Galamsey, with many more cases likely going unreported.

The Lawmaker expressed concern over the destruction of the environment, including forest reserves, and its long-term consequences for the country.

The Madina MP commended the government for initiatives like the Blue Water Guard and revoking LIs allowing mining in forest reserves.

He urged Parliament to support the government's efforts, emphasizing the need for a non-partisan approach to tackle the menace.

MP Sosu called on Ghanaians to join forces to combat Galamsey, stressing that the fight is a collective responsibility.

He emphasized that decisive action is needed to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
