VALCO Workers Union Sounds Alarm Over Possible Stealth Sale. The leadership of workers at Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) has expressed concern over GIADEC's announcement to secure strategic investors for VALCO's modernization, alleging it's a rushed privatization without stakeholder consultation. In a press statement signed by the union chairman Mr Samuel W. Agyeman, the union demands transparency, citing secrecy and lack of valuation as red flags. According to them, they suspect a disguised sale, possibly linked to Ibrahim Mahama, and call on the President and SIGA to intervene. They called upon the director general of SIGA, Prof Michael Kpessa White to immediately look into the affairs of GIADEC with regard to VALCO. They added that, VALCO is not just a factory but a legacy given to Ghana by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah which symbolizes industrial courage, national pride and promise of decent jobs for generations yet unborn. The leadership of workers at Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) has expressed concern over GIADEC's announcement to secure strategic investors for VALCO's modernization, alleging it's a rushed privatization without stakeholder consultation. 

 

In a press statement signed by the union chairman Mr Samuel W. Agyeman, the union demands transparency, citing secrecy and lack of valuation as red flags.

 

 According to them, they suspect a disguised sale, possibly linked to Ibrahim Mahama, and call on the President and SIGA to intervene.

 

They called upon the director general of SIGA, Prof Michael Kpessa White to immediately look into the affairs of GIADEC with regard to VALCO.

 

They added that, VALCO is not just a factory but a legacy given to Ghana by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah which symbolizes industrial courage, national pride and promise of decent jobs for generations yet unborn.
