*Deputy Minority Leader Pays Tribute to Late Diplomat Victor Gbeho*

The Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament and MP for Asokwa, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, has paid glowing tribute to the late Ambassador Victor Gbeho, describing him as an eminent diplomat and distinguished public servant.

Contributing to a statement on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Appiagyei said the passing of Ambassador Gbeho marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in Ghana’s diplomatic history.

“Mr. Speaker, the people of Ghana are paying tribute to Ambassador Victor Gbeho. He was an eminent diplomat, a distinguished public servant and a statesman. I quite remember when I heard of his intention to become a Member of Parliament, I was really surprised because I had always envisaged him as somebody who was truly the blood of a public servant and would not indulge in politics,” she said.

The Asokwa MP noted that the late diplomat never mistook power for greatness.  

“While others sought influence through commanding speeches, he inspired confidence through a quiet presence. He distinguished himself in service to the Republic of Ghana,” she added.

Hon. Appiagyei further stated that Ambassador Gbeho rose through the ranks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from Director to Deputy Minister, through hard work. 

“He had an exceptional distinction of integrity and humility. That is what is expected of anyone who dedicates his life to serve our nation,” she said.

According to her, beyond his service to Ghana, Ambassador Gbeho also served with distinction as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia.

“Mr. Speaker, in all these roles, he distinguished himself. May his soul rest in peace,” she concluded.
