The First Deputy Majority Whip and Member of Parliament for Ada, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, has justified the recall of Parliament, saying it is critical for the vetting and approval of newly reassigned ministers.

Addressing the press in Parliament on Wednesday, Hon. Cudjoe dismissed complaints by the Minority over the recall, insisting that Parliament was actively working.

"What are they looking for? We called the House to come and sit and work and we are working. So why are they complaining?" she questioned.

She explained that there was several committee meetings ongoing concerning the vetting of two ministers and judges.

According to her, the recall was necessary because without it, the ministers reassigned by President John Mahama cannot be approved to return to their sector ministries to work on their budgets.

"The main reason why we are here is if we don't recall this House and vet the ministers, there will be nobody to approve them to go back to their sector ministries to work on their budgets," she said.

Hon. Cudjoe disclosed that vetting is scheduled for tomorrow, with approval expected on Friday, after which the House will handle other businesses before adjourning early to join the Speaker in Kumasi.

"Once the ministers will be vetted tomorrow and the report will be ready, we will approve them on Friday. That's all. We have achieved our aim," she stated.

She added that the House is also using the opportunity to work on some bills, noting that extensive consultations are done before bills are brought to the chamber.

She said the approved ministers need to immediately engage their technocrats and liaise with the Finance Minister to capture their sector needs ahead of the 2026 Budget presentation in November.

"The ministers should be vetted, approved, go back to their ministries, work on their budget with their sector technocrats and then connect to the Finance Minister... so that the Finance Minister can capture it and come and read the budget by November," she explained.
