*Weija-Gbawe MP Demands Completion of Upper Weija STEM School As He Supports 2026 BECE Graduates* The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has called on government to as a matter of urgency complete the Upper Weija STEM School to ease pressure on senior high school placements in the constituency. *Weija-Gbawe MP Demands Completion of Upper Weija STEM School As He Supports 2026 BECE Graduates*

 

The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has called on government to as a matter of urgency complete the Upper Weija STEM School to ease pressure on senior high school placements in the constituency.

 

According to the MP, the difficulties associated with SHS placement continue to cause considerable anxiety and frustration for many students and parents every year.

 

Hon. Shaib made the call on Monday, September 15, 2026, at the second edition of his MP's Freshers Fund distribution held in his constituency.

 

The event, organized to support students transitioning from basic school to secondary school, saw the Second Deputy Minority Whip present essential items including mattresses, pillows, school bags and trunks to freshers to help them settle in and concentrate on their studies.

 

Addressing students and parents, Mr. Shaib said the intervention was aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and motivating students to start their second-cycle education on a good footing.

 

He also hinted at plans to establish ICT centres across the constituency to improve access to technology and provide students with practical opportunities to learn, explore and prepare for an increasingly digital world.

 

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to parents for their sacrifices and continuous support for their wards' education.

 

He further admonished the students to stay focused on their education and stay away from drugs and substance abuse.

 

"Do not allow pressure from friends or the desire to fit in destroy the future you are yet to build," he advised.

 

The beneficiaries and their parents thanked the MP for the continuous support, describing it as timely and life-changing.
