*Majority in Parliament Pushes for Stronger Collaboration to Fight Drug Menace*

The Majority Caucus in Parliament has called for intensified inter-agency collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in the country.

Addressing a press conference in Parliament, Majority Leader and MP for Builsa North, Hon. James Agalga, said the growing narcotics threat requires a coordinated and united front from all security agencies.

According to Hon. Agalga, the profiling and screening of suspects, investigations, prosecution and asset recovery are all critical links in the chain that must be strengthened through intelligence sharing.

"This is no job for any single agency. The profiling and screening, investigation, prosecution, and asset recovery are all critical elements in the chain. And only when agencies are better coordinated, sharing intelligence and working together, can Ghana really disrupt and dismantle networks that traffic in narcotics," he stated.

The Majority Leader specifically called on the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and other relevant agencies to deepen cooperation.

He noted that continuous prosecution and effective inter-agency coordination remain the bedrock of Ghana's fight against the drug menace.

Hon. Agalga also commended President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership in retooling and empowering NACOC to become a more robust institution capable of defending the country against drug trafficking networks.

"The Majority Caucus applauds the leadership of His Excellency the President in making the Narcotics Control Commission an institution which can defend this country and urges the public, the media, and this House to evaluate this government's performance on the basis of the evidence now presented and hold it to account for the work to come," he said.
