Walewale MP Retracts Controversial Word, Apologises to Speaker and Parliament The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Abdul-Kabiru Tia Mahama, has withdrawn a word used during a previous press conference and apologised unreservedly to the Speaker and the House. Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Tia Mahama admitted that the word was inappropriate and acknowledged that, in hindsight, it should not have been used. He explained that he had understood the word to mean “sadly and unpleasantly” based on a dictionary definition. However, he admitted that his interpretation was incorrect. Dr. Tia Mahama expressed appreciation to the Speaker for granting him the opportunity to address the matter and said the Speaker’s earlier statement on the issue was accurate. He subsequently retracted the word and offered an unreserved apology to the Speaker and the entire House.

Walewale MP Retracts Controversial Word, Apologises to Speaker and Parliament

The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Abdul-Kabiru Tia Mahama, has withdrawn a word used during a previous press conference and apologised unreservedly to the Speaker and the House.

Speaking in Parliament, Dr. Tia Mahama admitted that the word was inappropriate and acknowledged that, in hindsight, it should not have been used.

He explained that he had understood the word to mean “sadly and unpleasantly” based on a dictionary definition. However, he admitted that his interpretation was incorrect.

Dr. Tia Mahama expressed appreciation to the Speaker for granting him the opportunity to address the matter and said the Speaker’s earlier statement on the issue was accurate.

He subsequently retracted the word and offered an unreserved apology to the Speaker and the entire House.
