PLENARY WOULD TAKE THE FINAL DECISION ON THE NOMINEES - AFENYO

The majority leader, Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin has clearly stated that,  the appointment committee of Parliament yesterday completed  its vetting of the two nominees of the President,

Justice Sophia Rosetta Oduokuwa Bernasko Essah and Professor Richard Frimpong Oppong successfully and now waiting for committee's report and a final approval or otherwise by the entire 275 members of Parliament.

He explained that, after the vetting, there was a split of votes where each side had 7 votes in determining the committee's decision on the nominees which would also be included in the report and that, the final decision of approving the two nominees does not lie on committee members votes but rather the entire 275 members of Parliament.

On the other hand, the minority members on the committee through its chief whip and MP for Adaklu, Mr  Kwame Agbodza Governs also said, the motion of approving the nominees at the committee level was lost because the voting ended in 7 for each side and therefore waiting for the final decision at the plenary.
