*Indian PM Praises Ghana's Commitment to Democracy in Historic Parliament Address*

 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Ghanaian Parliament, highlighting the shared values of democracy, dignity, and resilience between India and Ghana. 

 

He brought greetings from 1.4 billion Indians, commending Ghana's commitment to democratic ideals and inclusive progress.

 

Addressing Parliament, he emphasized the shared commitment to democracy, dignity, and resilience between India and Ghana, underscoring the strong bond between the two nations.

 

He also acknowledged Ghana's courage and determination in promoting inclusive development, citing its progress as an inspiration to the African continent.

 

The Prime Minister highlighted Ghana's role as a beacon of hope for democratic governance and progress in West Africa, demonstrating the potential for other nations to follow suit.

 

PM Modi's visit marks a significant milestone in India-Ghana relations, with both countries elevating their bilateral partnership to a Comprehensive Partnership. This upgrade reflects a shared commitment to deepen cooperation across various sectors, including:

 

According to him, India and Ghana aim to double their bilateral trade in the next five years, with Indian companies investing nearly $2 billion in about 900 projects in Ghana.

 

Both nations will strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, training of armed forces, maritime security, defence supplies, and cyber security.

 

He added that, India will support Ghana's development initiatives, including the "Feed Ghana" program and the establishment of a Skill Development Centre.

 

PM Modi's visit to Ghana signifies a renewed commitment to strengthening bonds and fostering shared growth between the two nations. 

 

The Indian Prime Minister's address to the Ghanaian Parliament and his meeting with President underscore the strong diplomatic ties between India and Ghana, built on mutual respect and admiration for each other's values and achievements.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also emphasized that democracy is not just a system but a part of India's cultural heritage, deeply ingrained in Indian values for thousands of years. 

 

He cited ancient democratic centers like Vaishali and the Rigveda, which promotes openness to ideas 

 

 He emphasized India's diverse political landscape, with over 2,500 political parties, and its linguistic diversity, with 22 official languages and thousands of dialects.

 

He said  India's openness to people from different backgrounds, welcoming them with open hearts.

*MINORITY CAUTIONS EC OVER DECISION TO RE- RUN ABLEKUMA NORTH ELECTIONS.* The Minority Leader, Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin has cautioned the Electoral Commission over their decision to re-run the Ablekuma North constituency election in some polling stations. Commenting on the business statement for the week, Mr Afenyo Markin asked the EC, what changed to have a turn on their decision because they were on course to declare the Ablekuma North elections. He humbly asked the majority Leader to program the EC before the house to brief them on reasons why they changed their course. The Effutu lawmaker also raised the alarming increment of electricity tariffs almost 17% within six months when the NDC took over. "Just six months into power, you have increased electricity tariffs to 17%?
