*‘We Must Not Sell Cheap Today What We May Need Tomorrow’ – Annoh-Dompreh Warns Govt on Carbon Credit Deals* Minority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, says Ghana must get its carbon credit market right to protect national interest and climate commitments. Making a statement in Parliament on _“The Carbon Credit Market: Another Excellent Opportunity for Ghana to Get It Right,”_ he noted: “Mr. Speaker, I am indeed happy that Ghana has taken important early steps.” Hon. Annoh-Dompreh said the rules must be clear from the start. “Timeline must be clear, fees must be reasonable, and the distinction between Article 6 transactions, the voluntary carbon market project, and non-authorised domestic carbon activities must be clearly communicated,” he stated. Haruna Iddrisu Outlines New Measures to Improve Teacher Retention in Rural Areas The Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has outlined a series of policy measures aimed at improving teacher welfare, motivation, and retention, particularly in rural and underserved communities across Ghana. Speaking in Parliament, the Minister said the initiatives form part of the government's broader strategy to attract and retain qualified teachers in areas that have long struggled with staffing shortages. Among the key interventions is the reduction in the service period required for teachers in deprived areas to qualify for paid study leave. Under the revised policy, teachers serving in such communities will now be eligible for study leave with pay after completing two years of service instead of the previous three years. Hon.
