RELEASE MPS TO COME AND WORK;- MINORITY CAUTIONS DR. BAWUMIA, NAPO

The NDC Minority Caucus in parliament has threatened to invoke articles 102 and 104 of the constitution of the flag-bearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh does not release honourable members of parliament to come and attend to parliamentary business.

According to minority first deputy, Whip, Mr Ibrahim Ahmed, on Friday 12 July, had raised the matter expressing their disappointment over the low turnout of honourable members of the  majority side of the house whose government is in power.

“Mr Speaker, let’s count we are the majority. The government must bring government work, and the government must make sure that its benchers come”he said

“And when government is making program, government must take into consideration that he’s being given four years mandate to execute,as I speak to you,flag-bearer is in the north and running mate is in south campaigning and the MPs are following them instead of coming to seat here to do government work, meanwhile you still have four months 1 week to be in government”he lamented

He noted that the majority side is thinking of breaking the Eight rather than solving the problem.

“Mr. Speaker, this is serious, the constitution must be respected. What I want to say is that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia must release the MPs to come to parliament and work, including Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempreh”he demanded

The Banda legislator did notice that if the flag-bearer and his running mate refuse to adhere to their call, they will invoke article 102 and 104.

“Mr speaker, either than that we will invoke article 102 and 104 and raise quorum ,the constitution must be respected, you cannot be breaching the constitution and speaking for renewal of mandate,we must be serious in this house”he cautioned

“And mr speaker if that is not done, once they invoke the constitution and call by 15% which we all came,so when the time comes and we invoke it,we must stick to our calling,we will come and sit here doing government work and you’re roaming in our constituencies doing campaigning”he added

That notwithstanding,Mr. Ahmed further served notice that if by next week all the one hundred and thirty-eight members of the majority caucus are not in,they will also allow their members to go and campaign.
