*GOVT TO PAY 4 BILLION TO ROAD CONTRACTORS - MINISTER* 

 

 

Minister for Roads and Highways, Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza  has highlighted some concerns about paying road contractors. 

 

 

According to him, the government plans to pay 4 billion Ghana cedis towards retiring part of the 21 billion credits debt. 

 

He said in regards to the president's announcement that the finance minister will take steps to retire some debts owed to contractors towards the end of month. 

 

The MP for Adaklu added that, the government is committed to paying for road works done and prioritizing debt repayment.

 

In a meeting with some stakeholders and road  engineers, he  acknowledged the frustration caused by challenging road conditions, especially in areas like Pokuase but noted that some situations in other regions were worse.

 

Mr Agbodza emphasized the need for collective effort to address the country's road problems highlighting the impact on drivers and the economy.

 

However, the engineer for the Pokuase - Nsawam road, Mr Abdullai Mahama gave an update on the project, notified that, if there are no unforeseen challenges, they will complete the project within six weeks .

 

He outlined the plan to improve the various layers and finish with a black top(asphalt) on that section.
