SPEAKER CONDEMNS CONDUCT OF MPs AT THE APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE AND TAKES ACTION AGAINST THEM

The Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has condemned the misconduct of members of parliament at the appointment committee.

The Speaker in presenting his official communique to the house indicated that, the Leadership on the committee as well as the members did not apply emotional intelligence in their dealings. According to the Speaker, the MPs didn’t respect the Chiefs and Queen Mothers and Diplomats presents at the time.

He added that the actions of the MPs is a dent on the image of Parliament and it is a disgrace to the country at the international community . Bagbin therefore directed that, the two chief whips from each side, Nelson Rockson Defeamekpor , Frank Annor Dompreh and the Deputy Minority Whip Jerry Ahmed Shaib and Alhassan Tampuli to be suspended for two weeks from partaking in all parliamentary business.

He again constituted a seven member committee to probe into the matter and submit the report in ten 10 days.

The seven member committee will be chaired by Emmanuel Bedzra MP for Ho West, as Anyimadu Antwi, Gisella Tetteh, Abena Osei Asare ,Zenator Rawlings, Vincent Oppong Asamoah,Ziedeng Bede Anwontaazumo.

He also directed the Clerk of Parliament to make an official complaint at the police station to ensure that all the culprits are punished. Bagbin lamented that, the Clerk should also ensure that all damaged items are payed by the culprit.

He further directed that, with immediate effect the appoint committee should be dissolved and reconstituted as soon as possible.

PRU EAST MP CALLS FOR URGENT ACTION ON WATER CRISIS. The Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency in the Bono East Region, Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, has raised concerns over the acute water shortage affecting his constituency. He has called on the government to implement urgent measures to address the situation. PARLIAMENT REPEALS E- LEVY Parliament has officially repealed the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), a tax imposed on electronic transactions such as mobile money transfers.
