Northern Caucus of 9th Parliament Inaugurated
The Northern Caucus of the 9th Parliament of Ghana has been inaugurated. During the ceremony, Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, advised the members to maintain a non-partisan approach in their deliberations. He emphasized that once the Caucus is formed, party affiliations (NPP, NDC, or Independent) should not be a factor.
Hon. Bagbin shared insights from past experiences, citing the challenges faced by the Caucus due to divided loyalties. He mentioned Hawa Yakubu, an independent member, and noted that even individuals from the Zongo communities who claim to hail from the North had conflicting allegiances. According to him, strategies developed in meetings were often leaked, highlighting the importance of unity and confidentiality.
The Speaker cautioned the newly inaugurated members against making judgments based on biased information, stressing the need to consider multiple perspectives. He encouraged them to learn from past experiences and work together effectively.
