ATEBUBU AMANTIN FACES WATER CRISIS. The Municipal Chief Executive for Atebubu Amantin in the Bono East, Mr Thomas Mas'wud Musah Ayaaba has highlighted some challenges confronting his municipality. He mentioned that, the municipality faces a severe water crisis with low water tables and inadequate supply. Speaking to the media after appearing before the local government and rural development committee, Mr Ayaaba explained that he has engaged the community water system to provide temporary solutions while working towards a permanent fix. He added that, they are taking advantage of government policies like the "Akoko nkitikiti" to empower the women and support farmers through their father's Service Center initiative. He mentioned some projects the municipality is currently undertaking. renovating the assembly block and assembly hall, constructing a toilet facility at Tezako and paying outstanding certificates to contractors for zonal projects. GALAMSEY IS NOT A THREAT IN MY MUNICIPALITY- MCE The Municipal Chief Executive for Atiwama Nwabiagye South, Mr Wisdom Osei Boamah has emphatically stated that, his municipality is not facing any challenges with galamsey. Explaining his response, he noted that, there are only two small scale miners who are legitimate owners of the concession so there is limited complain about it. Mr Osei Boamah highlighted some challenges confronting his municipality. MINORITY'S CALL FOR THE RESIGNATION OF MINISTER OF COMMUNICATION IS UNFOUNDED. - MAJORITY The Majority in parliament says that, the call by the minority for the resignation of the communication's minister, Mr Sam George is unfounded. Speaking at a press conference held in parliament on 3rd October 2025, the majority members on the information and communication committee led by the chairman, Mr Sulemana Adama said the best solution to solve the DSTV and the Minister's misunderstandings is to Dialogue. Minority Rebut Hon. Samuel Nartey George Over DSTV Impasse. The Minority members on Parliament's Communication and Information Committee have responded to comments made by Hon. Samuel Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, regarding the ongoing DSTV impasse. In a press statement signed by Hon. Matthew Nyindam, Ranking Member of the Committee on Information and Communication on 1st October 2025, the Minority accused Hon. George of arrogance, disrespect, and pomposity. GOVT TO INCREASE FUNDING FOR PRISON FEEDING FROM GHC 1.80 TO GHC 5. The government of Ghana through the interior minister,Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed - Mubarak and the Finance Ministry has allocated 40million Ghana cedis for prison feeding. With a proposal to increase the daily feeding allowance from GHC 1.8 to GHC 5 Ghana cedis per inmate. Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee of parliament on 30th September 2025, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed said the Ghana Prisons Service is working to improve the welfare of inmates and address congestion in prison. The prison service granted amnesty to over nine hundred (900) first time offenders reducing congestion from 36% to 33%. Addressing the media, he stated that, looking at the cost of rent in these areas, workers use more than 30% of their salaries on rent. He explained that, this has led the departures of nurses, doctors, teachers and other government workers. FIGHT AGAINST GALAMSEY : Local-Based Approach the Best Solution. The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim, emphasizes that a local-based approach is the best way to combat illegal mining (galamsey) in Ghana. Speaking to SATA Radio UK, he advocated for a national dialogue involving all DCEs at mining assemblies to discuss solutions and measures rather than declaring a state of emergency.
