*Minority Caucus Presents “Original State” of Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill in Parliament* The Minority Caucus in Parliament has presented what it describes as the “Original State” of the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill. The presentation was led by Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South. The move comes after Parliament passes the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, commonly referred to as the anti-LGBTQ+ Bill. The bill, which has been the subject of extensive public debate, seeks to criminalize LGBTQ+ activities and related advocacy in Ghana. According to the Minority Caucus, the presentation was intended to clarify the initial form and intent of the bill as introduced, and to ensure that any amendments made during the committee and plenary stages are done with full reference to the original text. Hon. Ntim Fordjour, speaking on behalf of the caucus, stated that the exercise was part of efforts to maintain transparency in the legislative process.

*2021 Unemployed Nurses Storm Parliament, Demand Immediate Posting* The General Secretary of the 2021 Cohort of Unemployed Nurses Association of Ghana, Gideon Nsiah, has appealed to the Minority in Parliament for urgent intervention to get government to post over 11,000 trained nurses who remain at home. Nsiah led members of the association to Parliament on Tuesday, where they engaged the Minority Caucus to push their case. He said the group “ambushed” the Minority to seek help after months of waiting without postings from the Ministry of Health. According to him, out of the 18,000 nurses who completed training in the 2021 cohort, only about 6,500 have been posted. “The rest of us are still home. We have our licenses, we are ready to work, but there are no financial clearances for us,” Nsiah told journalists after the engagement. The group called on President John Mahama’s administration to prioritize health sector recruitment and release financial clearance for the entire 2021 bat

*POOR NETWORK SERVICES IN GHANA: A DAILY FRUSTRATION* For millions of Ghanaians, getting through a single workday, lecture, or family call without a dropped connection has become the exception, not the rule. From Accra’s business districts to farming villages in the Upper West, unreliable internet and mobile services are disrupting lives and slowing the country’s digital ambitions. In a statement signed by the former member of parliament for Tano South, Hon Dr Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere stated that, across Ghana, users report the same cycle: weak signal bars, calls that cut off mid-sentence, mobile money transactions that hang and fail, and data bundles that drain while pages refuse to load. According to him, students trying to join virtual lectures or submit assignments often miss deadlines due to unstable connections. “I sometimes have to walk 20 minutes to the nearest hill just to get one bar for my online exam,” said Ama Mensah, a level 300 student at KNUST. Minority Demands Energy Minister Appear Before Parliament Over Recurring Power Outages The Minority Caucus in Parliament has accused the government of ignoring clear warning signs that pointed to Ghana’s worsening power instability crisis. According to the caucus, incidents such as the fire outbreak at the Akosombo power control center and the suspension of the GRIDCo Chief Executive Officer, both raised in April, were strong indications of deeper challenges within the energy sector. However, they argued that these concerns were not treated with the urgency they deserved. The opposition maintained that the government’s failure to act promptly has resulted in renewed power outages, leaving many Ghanaians in darkness once again. As part of its demands, the caucus has called on the Minister for Energy to personally appear before Parliament to address the situation. The Minority further insisted that the Minister must present a credible, properly costed, and time-bound plan aimed at per

Minority Condemns Arrest Over “Dumsor Is Back” Post, Demands Police Review The Minority in Parliament has strongly condemned the arrest of a political organizer over a Facebook post captioned “Dumsor Is Back,” describing the action as an abuse of state power and a threat to freedom of expression. Speaking on behalf of the Minority Leader during a parliamentary address, Patricia Appiagyei criticized the involvement of heavily armed security personnel in the arrest, which followed a social media post featuring the President alongside the caption. According to her, the deployment of CID and BNI officers to detain a citizen over a political opinion raises serious concerns about the misuse of state security agencies. The Asokwa MP argued that the arrest violates Article 21 of the Ghanaian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and expression. She also referenced legal arguments made in the case, stating that the phrase “Dumsor Is Back” reflected the reality of persistent power
