Majority Chief Whip Dafeamekpor Dismisses Minority Leader’s Claims, Defends Government’s Expenditure and Road Projects The Majority Chief Whip in Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has responded strongly to allegations made by the Minority Leader. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Dafeamekpor stated that 12 months ago, the then Majority Leader launched programmes that had long been initiated, using significant public funds. He noted that before major initiatives such as Planting for Food and Jobs, One Village, One Dam, and One District, One Factory, the previous government had already begun spending public resources on similar projects. He therefore found it surprising that the Minority was now criticizing the Big Push initiative for spending on projects that commenced earlier this year. According to him, the claim that expenditure could only occur after September is illogical. Hon. Dafeamekpor

Minority Leader Questions Delay in Constituting Road Fund Board The Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Hon. Alexander Osahene Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has raised strong concerns over the government’s continued delay in constituting the Road Fund Board, a situation he says is crippling contractors and undermining private sector investment. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Afenyo-Markin stated that anyone who reads the 2026 Budget would be left wondering why a government with the full opportunity to establish critical governance structures has failed to set up the Road Fund Board. He questioned why the government, despite having amended the law to allow for the board’s formation, has still not taken action after ten months. According to him, contractors who took loans from banks to execute government projects are suffering because they have not been paid. He described the situation as unacceptable, asking whether it is “a sin to invest in the private sector,”

South Dayi MP Tells Minority: “The Real Battle Is in Kpandai, Not Press Conferences” The Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has criticized the Minority Caucus over their response to the Kpandai re-run election, urging them to shift their focus from lengthy press statements to active grassroots campaigning. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, 28th November 2025, Hon. Dafeamekpor stated that the Minority had “lost the matter” and appeared confused about their next steps. He advised them that the real battleground is in Kpandai not in Parliament and not through what he described as lengthy statements filled with inaccuracies. He emphasized that victory in Kpandai will be determined by work on the ground, not blame games. According to him, “The Minority won’t campaign, but when they lose, they turn around to blame innocent people. This time, violence will not give them victory. What will win is decency, sound policies, j

Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP Demands Urgent Parliamentary Briefing on Galamsey Fight The Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, has raised serious concerns over the government’s handling of the illegal mining (galamsey) crisis. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Hon. Annoh Dompreh questioned the continuous delay by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in appearing before the House to brief members on the state of the anti-galamsey fight. He revealed that although the Majority Leader had indicated the minister would appear “as many times as possible,” there has still been no show despite repeated reminders at the Business Committee. He described the situation as alarming, saying reports show that excavators involved in illegal mining operations “appear and disappear like ghosts.” He further lamented the severe pollution of major water bodies, including the Densu and Ankobra rivers, which he said have reached dangerous levels.

*Kpandai MP Matthew Nyindam Cleared to Attend Parliament, For Now* Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, has ruled that Kpandai Member of Parliament, Matthew Nyindam, was right to attend Parliament yesterday despite the Tamale High Court's ruling annulling his election victory. The Speaker cited a statutory 7 day stay of execution on the High Court's ruling, which remains in force until December 1, 2025, meaning Nyindam's status as MP remains unchanged during this period. Additionally, Nyindam has filed an appeal and application for a stay of execution, which may further suspend the enforcement of the judgment. The Speaker emphasized that Article 105 of the 1992 Constitution prohibits a person from sitting or voting in Parliament if they are not entitled to do so, but given the current stay and potential appeal, it's premature to conclude Nyindam is disqualified from participating in parliamentary activities.

Deputy Education Minister Refutes Claims of GH¢45 Sanitary Pad Procurement Cost The Member of Parliament for Builsa South and Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Clement Abass Apaak, has refuted claims made by the MP for Old Tafo Constituency, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assefuah, regarding the cost of sanitary pads procured for schoolgirls. Speaking to the media, Hon. Apaak stated that the Old Tafo MP deliberately misled the public during the 2026 Budget debate by alleging that the Ministry of Education and by extension the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC government had procured sanitary pads for Junior and Senior High School girls at a cost of GH¢45 per pack. He described the claim as “not just a lie but a fabrication,” insisting that it had no basis in the facts presented in the 2025 Budget. He explained that the approved budget allocation of GH¢292 million covers the purchase and distribution of 12,280,340 sanitary pads, which the Ministry categorized into two batches for effective implementat
